Browning Community Development Corporation Welcomes Four New Individuals
Glacier Reporter, May 26, 2006
The Browning Community Development Corporation is pleased to welcome four new team members to the organization.
The organization advertised for a Small Business Coordinator, Financial Education Coordinator, Community Coordinator and an Office Manager.
The Browning Community Development Corporation (BCDC) is a private nonprofit organization created to foster social and economic improvements
in the Blackfeet Reservation community.
Butch Conway accepted the position as Small Business Coordinator. Butch is the father of six boys and married to Deanna Conway.
He is the son of Rita Conway and the late Butch Conway both of Browning. Conway formerly co-operated the B&G Construction Company
that pertained to home repair, maintenance and remodeling. In 2005, Butch received his A.A in Business Management from the Blackfeet Community College.
He is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys spending time with his family and friends.
Shayne Hall was brought on board as the Community Coordinator. Shayne will be responsible for organizing and coordinating community development activities
and events. Shayne is engaged to George Rutherford and together they have two children. She is the daughter of Vic and Ollie Hall both of Browning. In 2004,
Shayne received her Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Development from Montana State University-Bozeman. Shayne worked previously at the
Blackfeet Early Childhood Center as the Outlying Site Supervisor for East Glacier Head Start. Shayne is a member of the East Glacier Park Women’s
Golf League and is looking forward to working closely with her fellow community members.
Terrance Melton was formerly employed at the Native American Bank and after five and a half years agreed to join the BCDC team as the Financial Education Coordinator.
Terrance will currently be coordinating financial education to interested community members. He is the son of Rance Melton of Browning and Karen Connell-Buckley
of Montgomery, Texas. Terrance serves as a volunteer for the East Glacier Park Fire Department and participates in plenty of outdoor recreation throughout the year.
Kimberly Boy started her education at the Blackfeet Community College earning two associate degrees in business. Kim earned her Bachelor degree in Business
Administration from the University of Great Falls and started her Master of Business Administration program with the University of Phoenix online. Kim worked
previously at the Blackfeet Community College in the Business Office, where she was involved in most aspects of the office. Kimberly has two beautiful daughters
which are the light of her life and the most obvious inspiration for her need to make the reservation a better place. Coming from an educated family, getting a
secondary degree was just something that was expected of Kim and she hopes to fulfill her dreams of making the reservation a productive and progressive
environment for the future generations of our great Nation.
Elva Dorsey was awarded the Educational Award by Campus Corps. Campus Corps members are sponsored by the Blackfeet Community College.
Through Campus Corps Elva is serving 450 hours with BCDC until August. The Browning Area Chamber of Commerce appointed Elva as the Chamber Coordinator.
Elva is helping to revive the Browning Area Chamber of Commerce. She is the daughter of Marlene Augare of Browning and Kenneth Dorsey of Choctaw, Okalahoma.
Elva is engaged to Cole Edwards and together they have one daughter.
Dr. Johnel Barcus, Executive Director was quoted as saying, “I feel our team will be progressive after our short orientation and I see BCDC moving at a much
faster pace to develop our community.”
Willy Morris, Mayor for the town of Browning was quoted as saying, “The community of Browning just took a giant leap forward in terms of economic
development with the expansion of BCDC.”
